Notes about Antonius Casper van der Jagt

Geboren te Amsterdam bij ouders thuis op het adres Noordermarkt 10 II.
De lagere school gevolgd op de St.Jozefschool aan de Haarlemmer Houttuinen. (Zie schoolfoto)
Opleiding voor kleermakersvak gehad van vader Antonius van der Jagt.
Geen militaire dienst vervuld tengevolge van afkoping door vader.
Eerst gewerkt als expeditieknecht bij de Fa.Isaria aan de Haarlemmerweg te Amsterdam. Later als kleermaker voor resp. de Fa. Kattenburg, Fa. Boekman en Fa. Maschmeier-de Haas in Amsterdam.
Zijn echtgenote, Maria Sophia van Eijsden, leren kennen door meermalen ontmoeting bij de Fa.Kattenburg op de Dam in Amsterdam, waar haar vader eveneens als kleermaker werkte.
Op 22 mei 1919 gehuwd en in ouderlijk huis gaan wonen op de Noordermarkt 10 II. Vader was toen al overleden.
Op hetzelfde adres zoons Antonius (Tom) en Johannes (Joop) geboren op resp. 12 maart 1920 en 4 januari 1922.
In 1938 verhuisd naar het adres Lauriergracht 59 II. Daar verder als kleermaker, gespecialiseerd in vesten maken, thuis gewerkt (op zolder in kleermakerszit op de tafel in de dakkapel met uitzicht op de Westertoren) voor de Fa. Maschmeier-de Haas op de Keizersgracht in Amsterdam.
In verband met de afbraak van het komplex van de broodfabriek van Carels, waartoe ook de woning Lauriergracht 59 behoorde, op 9 november 1964 verhuisd naar het adres Lauriergracht 67 I, hetzelfde dubbele woonhuis waar zoon Johannes toen met gezin op nr. 69 in het benedenhuis woonde.
Na opname in verband met longontsteking op 15 februari 1969 overleden in het Lucas Ziekenhuis in Amsterdam. Mede het gevolg van een zwak hart tengevolge van een eerder hartinfarct in 1959.
Op 20 februari 1969 begraven op de Nieuwe Oosterbegraafplaats aan de Kruislaan in Amsterdam. Volgens eigen wens in een graf zonder steen.
Was een vriendelijk man vol met verhalen en gezelschapsspelletjes waarmee hij de familie vaak vermaakte op verjaardagen en bruiloften en andere feesten. Bezat een ruime kennis van de historie en cultuur, vooral van Amsterdam, die hij graag overdroeg aan anderen, o.a. zijn enige kleinzoon Antonius Casper (zie Gezinsblad 1) op wandelingen door Amsterdam bij aflevering van zijn werk bij de Fa. Maschmeier-de Haas.
