Notes about Sijmen Cornelissen

De stamouders van dit uitgebreide geslacht zouden kunnen zijn: SIJMEN CORNELISZ. en LEENTJE CLAAS. Zij trouwden 16 Februari 1648 te Wervershoof. Sijmen Cornelisz. woonde "beoosten Wervershoof in de ban van Lutjebroek" (nu Andijk) en Leentje Claas' kwam van Sint-Anna, een buurt aan het Westeinde van Onderdijk-Wervershoof.

Juist in 1650 is er een hiaat in het doopboek, zodat de doopdatum van onze bewezen stamvader niet is vast te stellen. Hij moet er in passen, want dan zouden zijn moeder en dochter allebei "Leentje Claes' " heten en dat vernoemen van de wederzijdse ouders was in die tijd vaste regel. We beginnen dus onze stamreeks CLAES SIJMENSZ. die toen nog niet de naam Kooiman droeg.

We zien hier ook twee achternamen ontstaan, Jan Symensz woont in de boerderij "De Vlaamsche Tent", wordt daarom "de Tent" genoemd, zijn zonen dus Tentszn en dit versteend al snel tot Tensen. Broer Claes Symensz woont tot maart 1687 in "de Vlaamsche Tent" en daarna in de Vogelkooy. Hij is kooiboer en zijn bijnaam "Cooyman" versteend eveneens al de volgende generatie.
