    Little Rock, Iowa -- Agnes (Van Sloten) Heronemus age 93 formerly of Little Rock, Iowa died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon, Iowa.

    Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa, with Reverend David Vander Laan officiating. Burial will follow at the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa.

    Visitation will be Saturday, November 24th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock.

    Little Rock, IA Agnes (Van Sloten) Heronemus, age 93, formerly of Little Rock, IA, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon, IA.
    Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, IA, with Reverend David Vander Laan officiating. Burial will follow at the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, IA.

    Agnes De Bruin was born on October 20, 1919, the daughter of Gerrit and Jacoba (Kragt) De Bruin in Inwood, IA. She grew up in Rock Valley and worked at her parent’s Home Meat Market until she married John Van Sloten Jr. of Hull, IA on April 5, 1939. They were married forty three years and had Van Sloten’s Dairy Farm near Rock Valley. In the spring of 1964, the couple moved to a farm by George, IA and part of that time Agnes worked for Campbell’s Soup in Worthington, MN. John passed away on June 25, 1982, and in the spring of 1985, Agnes married Albert Heronemus and they made their home in Little Rock, IA. After sixteen years of marriage Albert passed away on December 14, 2001. Throughout the years Agnes was a member of the Hope Reformed Church near George, IA where she taught Sunday school. When she moved to Little Rock she joined the Salem Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers. She was very active as a 4-H leader, chairman of the Women’s Farm Bureau, Women’s Chorus, Singing Senior Saints, Golden Agers and president of the Granettes Club. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, making wedding cakes, gardening and sewing. In October 2007, Agnes moved into the Paullina Care Center for one year until it closed, and in October of 2008 went to Sanford Senior Care Center where she lived until this past Wednesday, November 21, 2012, when she passed away at the age of ninety three.

    Agnes is survived by four children, Marlores (Pete) Roozing of Lone Tree, CO, Maretta (Donald) Budden of Granville, IA, Greg (Bonnie) Van Sloten of Robins, IA and Nora (Jeff) Slykhuis of Custer, SD; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Harvey (Nellie) DeBruin of Worthington, MN; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine De Bruin of Rock Valley, IA and Cleone DeBruin of Larchwood, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Van Sloten and Albert Heronemus; daughters, Sharon Nelson and Shirley Marshall; sister, Marie Vander Ploeg; four brothers, Delmar, Peter, Gerrit Jr. and Stanley De Bruin; and sister-in-law, Pauline De Bruin.
