Sinds 01.01.1911 tot 31.12.1960 organist in de Ned. Herv. Kerk te Ermelo. Als we dan bij het begin beginnen, moeten we allereerst vermelden, dat Hendrik Zoet 30 mei 1888 te Ermelo werd geboren als zoon van Wouter Zoet en Dirkje Mouw. Vader was een echte Ermeloer en moeder kwam uit Elspeet. Geslacht Zoet woont al eeuwenlang in Ermelo, zeker wel van 1600 af. Vader Zoet was de eerste slager in Ermelo, deed ook huisslachtingen. De winkel was op de hoek Torenlaan.

Bij de restauratie is in de spouw van de toren een tijdcapsule gevonden. Het gaat om een weckfles met documenten een een paar objecten. De vondst maakte de historici natuurlijk erg nieuwsgierig. Voor hetzelfde bevatte de tijdcapsule historische informatie van eeuwen terug. Naar nu blijkt is de schat iets te vroeg ontdekt. Het was de in 1971 overleden Hendrik Zoet, die in 1951 de koker inmetselde, tijdens een toenmalige restauratie, vertelt archivaris Bertus Wouda. Zoet stond in Ermelo bekend als organist in de Oude- en Nieuwe Kerk.

Van een kostbare schat die historisch belangwekkende informatie bevat is jammer genoeg geen sprake. “Het is veeleer een egodocument geworden over wie zijn ouders waren, zijn gezin, orgelbriefjes, afbeeldingen van hem zelf en predikant J.J. Timmer tot de tekst van zijn rede die hij uitsprak bij zijn twintigjarig ambtsjubileum.” Daarnaast bevatte de weckfles ouderwetse ansichtkaarten, een kopje uit de kinderjaren van zijn oudste dochter en een kop en schoteltje van zijn jongste dochter, een tinnen soldaatje, bonnenboekjes uit de Eerste- en Tweede Wereldoorlog tot twee glazen zoutlepeltjes. Spullen die het op het moment goed zouden doen op een vlooienmarkt of Marktplaats.

Zoet schrijft evenwel dat hij nog een weckfles heeft laten inmetselen. “We weten waar deze zich bevindt, maar deze primeur wordt de toekomstige generatie gegund. Want een tijdsbestek van 50 jaar is gewoon te kort”. De vondst is gedocumenteerd en weer ‘verstopt’, met een briefje erbij van de ‘ontdekking van de schat’.
