    James Carl Huygens, 83, of Hospers died Tues. June 22, at a Sioux City hospital.

    Services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, at First Reformed Church of Hospers. Burial was in Hospers Cemetery.

    Huygens was born Jan. 3, 1910, in rural Hospers, the son of Albertus and Gertrude (Den Hartog) Huygens. He married Jennie Brink June 18, 1931, at Hospers. He was employed by Pilley's Creamery in Hospers until 1946. He operated a digging service from 1947 until his retirement in 1972. He was employed part time by the City of Hospers from 1972 until 1980.

    Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty; two sons, Larry and Jimmy Jay; a sister, Henrietta; a brother, Ivan; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
  • He is buried June 1993 in Hospers Cemetery, Hospers, Sioux County, Iowa, USA.
