    Funeral services were held Saturday, June 1, at.the First Chrisian Reformed church for Mrs. Peter Swier. Rev. C. Huissen officiated. The burial was at the Valley View cemetery. Co-op funeral service was in charge.

    Mrs. Swier, 78, years of age, passed away at her home in Rock Valley Wednesday, May 29 following a lingering illness.

    She was born in Holland on Jan. 27, 1878. On Dec. 6. 1900 she was married to Mr. Swier and to this union 17 chidren were born of which three died in infancy.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, on brother and one sister.

    Survivors are the widower, and 14 children, seven sons, Walter, Nick. John, Bill, Neil of Colton, S. D., Peter Jr., of Edgerton, and Gerrit of Rock Valley. Seven daughters, Mrs. L. Vander Lugt, (Alice), Mrs. Peter Prince, (Jessie), Mrs. E. J. Fisher, (Ann), all of Chicago, Mrs. Jake Vander Kolk, (Bertha), Rock Rapids, Mrs. Cornie Van Duyn, (Wilmena), Colton, S. D.. Mrs. Gerrit Schut, (Gertrude), Rock Valley and Mrs. Ben Mulder, (Kathryn), Hull, Seventy-five grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters who live in The Netherlands.

    Mrs. Swier spent most of her married life on the farm. The past 15 years she lived in Rock Valley. She was a life time member of the Christian Reformed church.
