    AUDREY VAN ZANTEN
    Mrs. Audrey Van Zanten, age 81, of Orange City, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008, at the Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen. There will be a funeral service on Thursday, October 16, at 10:30am, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. David Heilman and the Rev. Paul Bakker will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

    Audrey was born on April 29, 1927, in Orange City, the daughter of John and Angeline (Mouw) De Blauw. She was raised on a farm west of Orange City, where she attended a country school.

    On June 2, 1947, she married Cornelius E. Van Zanten in Orange City. They made their home in the Orange City area, where she was a homemaker and for three years, she was also employed in the dietary department of the Pioneer Memorial Home. In June of this year, she moved to Happy Siesta.

    Mrs. Van Zanten was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church, where she participated in the women's organizations and sang in the choir. She enjoyed raising and working with flowers, cooking and baking, and sewing for her daughters.

    Survivors include her husband of more than 61 years, "Casey"; five daughters and their husbands; Judith Van Zanten and Leonard Nagel, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Linda and Jim Johnson, of Dallas, Texas; Andrea and Jim Pitts, of Phoenix, Arizona; Janet and Carl Mol, of Burnsville, Minnesota; and Melissa and Michael Cihak, of Newaygo, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Pitts, Angela Ring; Casey Pitts, Zandt Johnson, Kathryn Mol, Jillian Mol, and Andrew Mol; two step-grandchildren, Joe Nagel and Ben Nagel; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elinor Noteboom, of Orange City; Mary Ver Hage, Randolph, Wisconsin; and Betty Boss, of Batavia, Illinois.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Vermeer and Trudy Muyskens; and a brother, John De Blauw, Jr.
