Andijk had een arme kerk, in 1767 met de hulp van de Westfriese steden geinstalleerd. De kerken in de Streekdorpen - Bovenkarspel, Grootebroek, Hoogkarspel - waren van oudere datum. Zij bezaten vele bunders armen- en wezenland, dat aan lidmaten van de kerk werd verhuurd. Andijk daarentegen bezat slechts een paar akkers, die aan inkomsten (huur/pacht) 12 tot 17 gulden per jaar opbrachten. De kerk bezat voorts nog enkele huisjes - waarvan een in Oostwoud - die door lidmaten zonder familie (erfgenamen) aan de kerk waren nagelaten.

Teeuwis Kort betaalde van 1763 tot 1769, 13 gulden akkerhuur. Vervolgens betaalde Jan Groot jarenlang akkerhuur van 15 tot 17 gulden. Tot hij op 16 maart 1807 de akkers kocht voor een bedrag van 680 gulden. De miljoenen van Sluis en Groot vinden hier hun oorsprong!
