You know I haven't figured out why the children lived with their grandmother in 1850 & 1860, unless #1 they just wanted to, or #2 the new wife wasn't much older than they were and just didn't want them. But it is strange before
that... they also had a son named Thomas V.(at age 12) that lived with G.W.'s brother Robert and is with them in the 1850 census. I have a theory that maybe he was bonded out to Robert as his own children were mostly girls and the sons were just to young to help farm. But this Charley R. does not show up with the family in 1850( he was born in 1843 three years before Sarah died) or with any other family member that I have found but does show up with the older children including Thomas V. in 1850 but the ages are wrong for all of them by two years, they are all two years older than it states. I have found descendants on all but Mary, and Charley. I have found many descendants of the children of G.W. and second wife, many still live in Maury and Williamson Counties several are in their nineties and I have gained a lot from visiting with them. Have you ever been to Orange County, N.C.? I have pictures I took on some of my trips there of the grave site of Thomas Rountree b. 1733, and many of the McKee's buried in The cemetery at Little River Presbyterian Meeting House. There are many of William McKee's descendants still in that area.
