Notes about Edward Stanley DIXON

He inherited the homestead south east of Greenville from his father'sestate and added to his acreage until he had a very large propertyholding; this he continued farming until his death.
He was a justice of the peace for a number of years, and for a long timeserved on Pitt County Board of Commissioners. He was a strong supporterof the Free Will Baptist Church, was equally zealous as a mason and OddFellow. During 1864 and 1865 he was a volunteer in the Confederate Army.During the reconstruction days he belonged to the KKK.
Died near Greenville, North Carolina.
