In 1850, William P. Porter was residing in Rutherford Co. NC. Listed in his household were his wife, Mary (Keeter) age 28, and his children James, age five; Emely, age 7 or 5; and Mary, age 7 months.
In 1870, William Porter was residing in Haywood Co. NC, with a household containing the following,
William, age 53; Mary, age 47; Elizabeth, age 27; Martha, age 18; Sarah, age 15; William, age 17; Mary A., age 11; Harriett, age 9, and Mariah, age 5.
