ANNIE JANE SIMMONS

CALABASH - Mrs. Annie Jane Simmons, age 77, of 179 Calabash Rd.,Calabash, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at New Hanover Regional MedicalCenter.

Mrs. Simmons was born August 20, 1921, in Brunswick County and was thedaughter of the late Needham Garfield Ward and Julia Elmina Lee. She wasa member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving children of her first marriage to the late Robert L. BlantonJr. are two daughters, Mrs. Johnnie (Barbara) Gore of Winnabow and Mrs.Dale (Ann) Barrick of Carlisle, PA; two sons, James P. Blanton ofGainsville, FL, and Danny L. Blanton of Loris, SC; surviving children ofher second marriage to the late Bruce E. Ward Sr. include a daughter,Brookie Conn of Wilmington and a son, Bruce E. Ward Jr. of Rosepine, LA.There are no survivors to her third marriage to the late Rudolph Simmons;other survivors include a brother, Percy Ward of Johnson, SC; twosisters, Mrs. Charles (Hazel) Gore of Calabash and Mrs. Richard(Catherine) Terry of Shallotte; 21 grandchildren; and 26great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at 3 p.m. atBethel Primitive Baptist with Elder Newell Helms and Elder William M.Benton officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at Coble Ward-SmithFuneral Service, Supply Chapel, and other times from the home of DannyBlanton, 189 Calabash Rd., Calabash.
