Esta M. Gause

LORIS - Esta Mae Gause, 80, of the Mount Vernon community, died Tuesday,Aug. 27, 2002, at Loris Community Hospital after an illness.

She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Loris, a daughter of the late JosephCleveland "Cleve" Housand and the late Ruth E. Cox Housand. She was thewife of Guthrie Culpper Gause of Loris.

She was a homemaker and member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four sons, Charles PhilStevens of Hampton, Ga., Joseph Albert Stevens of Gray Court, PaulFranklin Steven of Inman, and Smith A. Gause of Anderson; threedaughters, Janette McCormick, Judy Ann Hardee and Shelvie Jean Stevens,all of Loris; three brothers, J.C. Housand and Elwood Housand, both ofSummerville, and Robert Housand of Charleston; three sisters, PaulineHughes and Laphena Hardee, both of Loris, and Ruth Ann Cook ofSummerville; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and agreat-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Housand.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Hardwick Funeral Home in Loris.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.Burial will be in Twin City Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Bill Thompson andthe Rev. Earl Elvis will officiate.
