I have photocopies of "BIBLE RECORDS OF COUSIN JOHN M KITTRELL, Greenville, N.C., copied August 1924" that my Great Aunt Elizabeth (Ann Elizabeth Kittrell Morriss) made as part of her 1950 application to the DAR. She and my grandfather, Samuel Howard, were the children of Hazzard A. Kittrell and the grandchildren of Samuel Augustus Kittrell and Elizabeth Ann Tucker. Since her research follows the Tucker line to the Tulls in Maryland, I am trying to find more of Samuel Augustus' background. Anyone know who "cousin John M. Kittrell" in Greenville might be? Mom just says "Oh they were the rich branch in Greenville, we were the poor folk in Farmville." There is also a copy labeled "PAPER PREPARED BY S. A. KITTRELL, (Original in the possession of Miss Ella May, Winterville, N.C." I believe she is another cousin--related to George Ann (Kittrell) May, Hazzard's sister.
Technology being what it was in 1924--or 1950 for that matter, the info is not easy to read. If anyone can help me locate my long lost cousins, or who might be in possession of such family papers now, I would be happy to share what I have, whether the originals are located or not. There is a wealth of names with birth/marriage/death dates that don't always agree with what I see on various Kittrell histories on the net. And since North Carolina did not record births, deaths or marriages before the 1900s, primary sources are hard to come by.
