Per Linda Shaw to Susan Thomas, May 2000: His name was Joseph James A. Long b. 1750.
Per "People of Columbus County, NC" Joseph is the father and James is his father. Joseph James Anderson Long maybe from the South Carolina line. Richard Long,, gentleman came to Charleston 1700.
Joseph was listed in the1800 Brunswick Co., NC census, pg 19a:
unk. Male b. 1784-90 (1M 10-16) and in the 1810 census with unk. male b. between 1780-90.

State Vs Henry Long, Joseph Long Jr & Joseph Long Sr.
Jury finds the defs guilty as charged in the bill of ind't.
Ord. that Henry Long and Joseph Long, Jr each be put into the Stocks for one hour after which they are to be imprisoned without bail or main prize for five days computed to commence on tomorrow & that they stand so committed until payment of all cost & until each of them shall enter into recognizance befoer James Smith in sum of $100 with good Security for their good behaviour for 12 months & that Joseph Long, Sr be fined $10.
The imprisonment of Henry Long & Joseph Long, Jr. be & the same remitted by order of Court.
