Burke's Peerage does not state anything about Bartholomew except that hewas the 2nd husband of Lucy de Clifford. People on World Connect say heis son of Hugh & Maud, but CP suggests Attleborough.
----------------
Lucy married, 2ndly, probably in 1195 Sir Bartholomew DE MORTIMER, whowas dead in 1226, when his heir was Matthew de Morley (k). [CompletePeerage IX:257, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
(k) He was possibly of the Norfolk family [Attleborough]; his associationwith David Earl of Huntingdon, and the fact that his nephew and heir,Matthew de Morley, was very definitely a Norfolk man. Sir Bartholomewwas with Richard I at Joppa in 1192.
Note: I believe that the dates would indicate that the Bartholomew whomarried Lucy Clifford was of an earlier generation than the Bartholomewwho was brother of Robert de Morley's wife (uncle of Matthew de Morley).Making the younger Bartholomew and his sister, children of Bartholomew, late husband of Lucy de Clifford, would also explain why she (through herson Matthew) was his heir, as there were only two children who weredescended from Bartholomew, husband of Lucy Clifford, by an earlier 1stwife.
2nd husband of Lucy Clifford
2nd husband of Lucy Clifford & brother of Robert de Morley's wife. (I disagree with the 2nd part of CP, as I think that he was father of the Bartholomew who was brother of Robert de Morley's wife).
This is the death date of the uncle of Matthew de Morley, who I think was Bartholomew's son.
