BARONY OF CHERLETON or CHARLETON (OF POWIS) (II) 1353

JOHN (CHERLETON), LORD CHERLETON, feudal LORD OF POWIS, son and heir. Hehad livery of his father's lands 20 January 1353/4. He was summoned toParliament from 15 March 1353 to 20 November 1360, by writs directedJohanni de Cherleton. In 1359 he was Chamberlain of the Household, andwas in the wars of Gascony.

He married, before 13 April 1319, Maud, daughter of Roger (DE MORTIMER),1st EARL OF MARCH, by Joan, de jure, suo jure [according to moderndoctrine], Baroness Geneville, daughter and heir of Sir Piers deGeneville [2nd but 1st surviving son and heir of Geoffrey, 1st LordGeneville.]. She was living August 1345. He died in 1360, before 30August. [Complete Peerage III:161, XIV:169, (transcribed by DaveUtzinger)]
