BARONY OF FITZWALTER (II, 3) 1328
JOHN (FITZWALTER), LORD FITZWALTER, son and heir, aged 13 and more at hisfather's death. On 5 June 1335, the King took his homage, though he wasnot yet of age, and & had livery of his father's lands. In October 1337he was about to go beyond seas on the King's service, with the Earl ofNorthampton. He served continuously, in the retinue of the Prince ofWales, from the King's arrival at La Hogue, 12 July 1346, till his returnto England. Having failed to come before the King to answer for certainfelonies and trespasses for which he had been indicted and had been putin the exigend, he was sent to the Tower of London, 1 February 1351/2,but on 24 June following his manors, lands, and advowsons, with theissues as from the preceding 25 May, and his goods and chattels, wererestored to him. He was summoned to Councils from 25 February 1341/2 to20 June 1358, and to Parliament from 3 March 1340/1 to 20 November 1360,by writs directed Johanni fitz Wauter.
He married Alianore, daughter of Sir Henry DE PERCY, of Alnwick,Northumberland [LORD PERCY], by Idoine, or Imaine, daughter of Sir RobertDE CLIFFORD, Lord of Westmorland [LORD CLIFFORD]. She predeceased him. Hedied 18 October 1361. Both were buried in Dunmow Priory. [CompletePeerage V:476-7, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
