In 1314 he [Nicholas de Meinill] settled a great part of his property onNicholas, his illegitimate son by Lucy, daughter and heir of Robert deThweng, of Kilton, elder brother of Marmaduke, 1st Lord Thweng. . . He [William le Latimer] married, 1stly, before 20 April 1295, Lucy, heirof Sir Robert DE THWENG elder brother of Marmaduke, 1st Lord Thweng (andgranddaughter of Sir Marmaduke DE THWENG, of Kilton in Cleveland, byLucy, sister and coheir of Sir Piers DE BRUS, of Skelton and Danby inCleveland). On 16 February 1303/4 the Sheriff of York was ordered to findLucy, wife of William le Latimer the younger, arrest her by force ifnecessary, and take her back to William's manor of Brunne, co. York,delivering her to William's attorney, as William had left her there toremain during his absence on service in Scotland and she was taken awayagainst his will by force. On 10 February 1310/1 William and Lucyquitclaimed to the King the manor of Danby with the free chase of Danby(North Riding, Yorks), and the manor of Bozeat (Northants), being ofLucy's inheritance, and they were regranted to William le Latimer forlife, with remainder to William son of William and Lucy and his issue,and with further remainder to Lucy and her heirs. A divorce between themhad been pronounced before 22 July 1312, when as daughter and heir ofRichard [sic] de Thweng she was to be distrained for lands which she andher husband William le Latimer held before their divorce the King havingtaken her fealty and respited homage till midsummer. A grant by her toher late husband, dated 21 July 1312, gave him the manor of Sinningtonfor his life. She married, 2ndly, before 29 January 1312/3, Sir Robert DEEVERINGHAM, who died s.p., before 4 April 1316; and, 3rdly, SirBartholomew DE FANACOURT.
