    "William James Leslie, 88, critically ill for five weeks, died early Wednesday morning, November 13, at his home on Highway 15 in the Hickory Springs neighborhood. A native of Bradley county, he was born in the community, where he spent his entire life, September 21, 1858, son of Samuel D. and Martha Jane Adams Leslie. For 68 years he was a member of the Hickory Springs A.R.P. church, and was an elder of the church for 46 years. On September 18, 1887, Mr. Leslie was married to Almyra E. Adams of the same community and active in church and civic affairs. Surviving are his wife; one son, James Lester Leslie of Pine Bluff and Little Rock; three grandsons, James Waller Leslie of Pine Bluff, William Richard Leslie of Little Rock and Charles M. Leslie of Chicago. Services were held Thursday, November 14 at 4 p.m. from the Hickory Springs A.R.P. church, with the pastor, J. Calvin Smith, officiating. Active pallbearers were the three grandsons, and three nephews, James Herbert Leslie, Samuel McFadden Leslie and Robert Pennington. Honorary bearers were the elders and deacons of his church, Milton Pennington, Rufus Green, Garland Caplinger, Verna Pennington, Will Lathan, and Jesse Shipley." -- Obituary Dated November 1946, Eagle Democrat, Warren, AR
