    Mrs. Otha (Lila) Moreland of Gatesville died here December 26. She was 81.
    Funeral services were held Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Gatesville with Rev. Plez Todd and Rev. Jack Hopkins officiating. Burial was in Ater Cemetery under the direction of Scott's Funeral Home.
    She was born December 2, 1910, in Erath County, daughter of the late Edward and Amy Barbee. She was reared and attended school in Oglesby and Hamilton, graduating from Hamilton High School. Mrs. Moreland attended Tarleton University and graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor College.
    She married Mr. Otha Moreland November 24, 1937, in Oglesby, and they made their home in the Ater community. He preceded her in death December 16, 1978.
    Mrs. Moreland taught school at Ater, Ireland. Gatesville State School for Boys, and Gatesville before retiring in 1975.
    She was a member of the hospital auxiliary, and was a volunteer at the Coryell County Museum. Mrs. Moreland was also a member of the Levita Methodist Church and was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Gatesville.
    Survivors include a son, R.W. (Dickie) Moreland of Rt. 4 Gatesville; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Brazil of Hamilton, Mrs. Gladys Cox of Lone Star and Mrs. Vonnie Porterfield of Waco; a brother, Noble Barbee of Waco; and two grandchildren.
    Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. (GM 2 Jan 1992)
