    Owsley Newell Vaughn, 82, of Somerset died at his home on Freeman Avenue Wednesday, April 26. He made his home in Pulaski County throughout most of his life with the exception of two short periods. Mr. Vaughn resided on Freeman Avenue for the past four years. He was born in Somerset August 5, 1867, the son of the late William Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Vaughn.

    Mr. Vaughn was married to Hadena Richardson in 1892 and to this union were born three sons, Joseph Frank, John William and James Lee, who died at an early age. His wife died shortly after the birth of the last son.

    On May 19, 1901, Mr. Vaughn married Myrtle Norfleet and to this union six sons and four daughters were born. The sons are Verlen, who passed away at the age of five months, Charles, who died June 12, 1949, Doyle, Robert, Leonidas and Dale and the daughters, Alma, Flora, Winifred and Delphia.

    Mr. Vaughn professed his faith in Christ in 1938 and served the Lord in many ways throughout his life. He was a kind and considerate father and husband, and was ever willing to help his fellow man when his help was needed. His unselfishness and loyalty endeared him to all who knew him.

    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Norfleet Vaughn; six sons, Joseph, Doyle, and Robert, all of Detroit, Leonidas of Cincinnati, and John and Dale, both of Somerset; four daughters, Mrs. Carl Dick of Nancy, Mrs. Joseph Mull of Trenton, New Jersey, Mrs. Gerald Sheritt of Lebanon, Ohio, and Mrs. Clyde Kinner of Kings Mill, Ohio; one brother, Robert Lee Vaughn of Detroit; one sister, Mrs. Louise Brown of Chicago; 33 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of friends who will mourn his passing. Four sisters preceded him in death.

    Funeral services were held at the Slide Springs Baptist Church Saturday, April 29 with the Rev. Bert Whitaker and the Rev. Cal Collins officiating. Burial was in the Norfleet Cemetery.
