    Agnes Higgins Smith, 70 of Hustonville passed away Friday, July 1, 2011. Born April 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Roy and LaFern Lawless Higgins. Agnes was a graduate of Hustonville High Class of 1959, she received her Bachelors Degree from Berea College and her Masters Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of the Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She has held many offices and was a member of many different professional teaching organizations where she held several offices. She was an honorary member of the Lincoln County FFA Chapter. She retired from the Lincoln County School System where she taught for 34 years. After retiring she worked as a substitute teacher and also worked at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. She was a lifetime member of the Hustonville Christian Church Disciples of Christ where she served as an Elder, Board Member, Sunday School Teacher and Christian Women's Fellowship President. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Gayle (David) Hurst of Hustonville; sister, Brenda Higgins (Robert) Ellis of Moreland and by 2 grandchildren: Eliza LaFern and David Caleb Hurst. Services 11 AM, Tues. at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home with burial in Sardis Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve, Brad and Jeff Lawless, David Lush, Brent Ellis and Tony Floro. Visitation is 5-9 PM, Monday.
