ARMSTRONG, Esther (F) DATE OF BIRTH: abt1738 PLACE: DATE OF DEATH: aft1774 PLACE: MOTHER: FATHER: ARMSTRONG, Matthew (ca1715-1781) SPOUSE: CARROLL, Thomas (1) CHILDREN: John, Moses, Martha, Matthew, James Clinton, Jane/Jinny, Elizabeth, Joseph(4) COMMENTS: Thomas and 3 brothers, John H., Joseph Elias(1) & Samuel served in the Revolutionary war: 1779 - 1781. Esther is a sister to Mary Armstrong Morrison. Their father was Matthew Armstrong, d. 1781, Lincoln Co., NC. I believe that Matthew could have been married before he married Mary (Lily) Beatty. The reason I believe this is because his first children were a lot older than my Mary. I think that Esther was born abt. 1740 and Mary was born 1775. There are a lot of court records where the children sued Mary Beatty Armstrong (Widow of Matthew) and William Thompson, which she married after the death of Matthew Armstrong. Matthew and wife Lily (Mary) were granted land in Beverly Manor in Augusta Co., VA in 1749. They apparently moved to NC in the early 1760's. They sold their land in Augusta Co., VA in 1765. jandahoward@email.msn.com (Jerrie Howard) has Matthew's will dated 6 May 1779. In some court records it states that he died in 1781.
