Note: In 1831, a Edward Wideman quarreled at a store in Richwoods Township,Washington County, MO with a Peter Valle and picked up a plow-beam andhit him in the head, killing him. Edward was indicted and tried inJuly of that year, resulting in a hung jury. He was tried thefollowing November and found guilty. On motion the verdict was setaside and a new trial was granted. He was released on bond, ran awayand never re-arrested. I am not sure if this was our Edward. 1
