Melody Dick McPherson November 29, 1964 - April 27, 2009

Melody Dick McPherson, age 44 of Harrodsburg, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY after battling cancer. She was born November 29, 1964 in Somerset, the daughter of Delmer Glen Dick and Velma Susan Green Moorefield. She was a substitute schoolteacher for Mercer County Board of Education. Melody was a volunteer at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, volunteered and very active in cancer Relay for Life. She enjoyed horses, children, gardening, and her family. Melody was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church in Harrodsburg, KY. Mrs. McPherson is survived by her husband, Mark McPherson, whom she married on April 19, 1992 in Harrodsburg, KY; her father, Delmer Glen Dick of Nancy, KY; her mother, Velma Susan Moorefield of Somerset; a son, Matthew McPherson of Harrodsburg, KY; a daughter, Meghan McPherson of Harrodsburg, KY; three brothers, Rodney (and Joann) Dick of Nancy, KY, Scott (and Keawanna) Garrison of Harrodsburg, KY, and Marcus Dick of Somerset; nine nephews, and three nieces. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Martha and Columbus Dick. Visitation for Mrs. McPherson will be Thursday, April 30th after 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1st at 11:00 am at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Walter and Bro. Scott Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for Mrs. McPherson will be Scott Garrison, Rodney Dick, Marcus Dick, Chad McPherson, Nick Raley, Donald McPherson, and Johnny Sweet. Honorary Pallbearers are Stevie Potts, Clayton McPherson, Douglas Garrison, Andrew Garrison, and Elliott Dick. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
