Nancy Youth Injured Seriously In Italy. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dick of Nancy have been advised by the War Department that their son, PFC Velber L Dick, was seriously wounded in action in Italy Jan 21. He was with an infantry unit of the Fifth Army when he was injured, the letter said. He entered the Army Feb 17, 1942, and was sent overseas 11 months ago. He saw action in North Africa and Sicily before going to Italy. A brother, Pvt. Harold N. Dick, entered the Army Feb 17, 1943, and was sent to the South Pacific area Jan 8.

Receives Purple Heart. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dick of Nancy received last week a Purple Heart medal awarded to their son, Pvt. Velber Dick, who was wounded in action in Italy January 21. Velber, who has been overseas a year, wrote that he was making a normal recovery. His brother, Pvt. Harold Dick who has been in service a year, is on duty somewhere in the South Pacific.
