    Deceased Name: Everett L. Combest Sr.
    Everett L. Combest Sr., 91, of East Jordan, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.
    Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Lighthouse Missionary Church in East Jordan.
    He was born Oct. 28, 1914, in Pana, Ill., the son of Frank and Melvina (Grossett) Combest .
    On June 12, 1943, in East Jordan, he married Yvonne McWatters.
    Everett worked many years as a milk truck driver for Michigan Milk Producers, fondly known as the "Whistling Milkman." He later went to work at the East Jordan Iron Works for a few years and then to the City of East Jordan where he served as sexton of Sunset Hill and many local cemeteries for 11 years. Yvonne and Everett served as caretakers of Elm Point for two years. Everett also worked seven years as a school bus driver for the East Jordan Public School, retiring in 1988.
    He served on the East Jordan Fire Department for eight years. He had been a member of the East Jordan Snowmobile Club.
    Everett enjoyed tinkering. He loved to fix things, build homes and windmills for family and friends. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, western square dancing, reading his Bible and going to the Open Door Christian coffeehouse in East Jordan.
    Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Combest ; six children, Jean (Red) Lent, Ruth (Glenn) Crain, Linda (Alvin) Merrill, Beatrice (David) Russell, Marilyn (Don) Williams and Everett (Amanda) Combest Jr.; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Effie Kern. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; and three sisters.
    Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. today, Friday, March 3, at Penzien Funeral Homes Inc., East Jordan.
    Memorials may be given to Grandvue Medical Care Facility or Lighthouse Missionary Church.
