Notes about Leona Burt

From birth certificate

Oral notes from Leona Burt Warner shortly after death of Felix Alonzo Warner:

Q: How did you and grandpa meet?
A: August 18, 1929. I was invited with my mother to a fish fry at Joe Warner's (grandpa's brother) outside of Nashville in the country. I went with Doug (can't remember last name) - Lonny (grandpa) went with another girl. By then end of the evening, Lonny was paying 'a little too much attention' to me, so his date just fainted to get attention. All I could think was 'what a stupid girl!' I was raised in the north (Detroit) and thought it was a silly southern female trick.

It didn't matter, because Lonny called me that week and we had our first date. We were married 3 mos. later!

Q: How did you know Joe Warner?
A: Mama Burt worked for her cousin, Ed Hoose (probably related on the Sharpe side of Helen Ligon Burt's family), who had a busy locksmith shop in town. Ed gave the shop to Doug eventually. I knew Joe Warner about 1.5 yrs. before I met grandpa.
