    DUNN — Mrs. Margaret “Laney” E. Kittrell, 83, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 14, 2020, at Woodland Nursing and Rehab in Fayetteville. She was born in Harnett County on June 25, 1937, to the late Murray E. and Grace S. Hodges. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Kittrell; and a grandson, Jeremy Smith.

    Laney taught piano lessons for over 55 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a choir director for many years. She was a member of the Vivace Choir.

    A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church by Dr. Len Keever.

    She is survived by three daughters, Doris Godwin and husband Rusty of Dunn, Virginia Rose and husband Johnny of Irving, Texas, and Margaret Likens and husband Mike of Westmoreland, Tennessee; a brother, Gene Hodges and wife Joann of Wilmington; grandchildren, Jennifer Parker, Meredith Bell, Heather Rountree, Kittrell Smith, Cameron Smith, Kathryn Wise and Janette Turlington; and 14 great-grandchildren.

    The family asks instead of flowers that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 309 W. Broad St., Dunn, NC 28334.

    Arrangements are by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home.
