REMARKS: Hughlan Benoy Elliott, "Hughlan", was born June 23, 1934, in
Cleveland County, North Carolina, the son Valentine Jason Elliott, "Val",
and
Nettie Gwendolyn Jones, "Nettie". He was the second of their four
children:
Sara Gwendolyn, "Sara"; Hughlan Benoy, "Hughlan"; Thomas Nelson,
"Nelson"; and
Mary Katherine, "Katherine", Elliott.

Hughlan grew up on his father's farm near Polkville, North Carolina, and
married Shirley Roberta Grier. They had three children, Jeffrey Benoy,
Karen
Lynn, and Gary Wayne Elliott.

According to data provided by Katherine Elliott Horne, his sister, in
August
1983, the first child died the day after he was born. The other two were
adults and working, but she didn't know where. Hughlan died June 13,
1964.
Sara Elliott Hill, his sister, stated in a letter to Ann Elliott Basore,
dated July 7, 1991, that Hughlan was in the service (in the '50s).
