Funeral services for Margaret Whitney, 89, of Charlestown, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in the Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Burkesville, Ky., a retired sixth grade teacher for Christ the King School in Louisville, a past member and president of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of the Bethany Christian Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Rachel Jenkins, Charlestown and Becky Wilcoxson and her husband, Jodie, Fort Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tom Jenkins, Paige DeAngeles, Whitney Wilcoxson, Rachelle Nickell and Holly Durrett; and 10 great-grandchildren, Hilari, Kaysi, Zachary, Joshua, Michael, Joseph, Hannah, Mikayla, Eddie and Lilah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.H. and Lottie Hale Kittrell; and her husband, Holace “Pete” Whitney.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 and after 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
