Mr. Ronald “Ron” Barber, 45, of 440 Poplar Springs Church Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at home.A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Gus Barber Jr. and Frances Hamrick Barber and was employed with Mayflower Vehicle Systems for almost 20 years. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, enjoyed working out and loved spending time with his sisters.He is survived by four sisters, Rachel Hunt and husband, Bob, of Shelby, Hilda Lail and husband, Bob, of Boiling Springs, and Freda McSwain and husband, Garry, and Lynn Lybrand and husband, Jim, all of Shelby; eight nieces and nephews, Laura Hamrick and husband, Mark, Jesse Hunt and wife, Anna, Wesley Lail, Lori Lail, Ally McSwain, Josh McSwain and wife, Wendy, Jamie Lybrand and Lance Lybrand; and great-nephew, Jordan Hamrick.Visitation: The family will receive friends today from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of his sister, Freda McSwain, 837 Old Boiling Springs Road, Shelby.Funeral: Today at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home ChapelBurial: Private family burial will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church CemeteryOfficiated by: The Rev.
