DOUBLE RITES UNITE COUPLES

Zion Baptist church near Great Falls was the scene of a doable weddingceremony July 17, which was performed by the Rev. Luther Knight, pastorof the church, uniting two couples in marriage: Miss Louie Yongue wasmarried to Thomas A. Jackson and Miss Martha Simpson was married to Alvin0. Bankhead.
Miss Betty McDonald, pianist and Miss Lenore Orr, soloist, presented aprogram of nuptial music.
The ushers were James Bankhead and Tom Bankhead.
Miss Yongue entered the church on the arm of her brother, AustinYongue. Miss Simpson was escorted to the alter by her father. The brideswore identical white coat suits and used white accessories. They carriedwhite prayer books topped with purple orchids.
Immediately following the ceremony the couples left for their weddingtrips.
Mrs. Jackson is the daughter of Mrs. Ned Yongue and the late Mr. Yongueof Blackstock. She was educated at Winthrop college and is now a memberof the school faculty at Great Falls.
Mr. Jackson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Jackson of Great Falls.He attended Clemson college and is employed in the cost department of theRepublic Cotton Mills there.
Mrs. Bankhead is the only daughter of Norman A. Simpson and the lateMrs. Simpson of Rion. She graduated from Winthrop college in June andwill teach in the Great Falls school this fall and winter.
Mr. Bankhead is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Bankhead of Blackstock.He graduated from the Great Falls High school and is now employed by theRepublic Cotton Mills.
Both couples will make their homes in Great Falls after undisclosedwedding trips.

BLACKSTOCK - Mr. Alvin O. Bankhead, 70, of 4647 Mountain Gap Roaddied Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center inColumbia.
A Graveside service with Masonic rites will be 11 a.m. today atHebron Presbyterian Church cemetery, with the Rev. John Rumfordofficiating.
A native of Fairfield County, Mr. Bankhead was a son of the lateWilliam McLin Bankhead and Esther McKeown Bankhead. He was a retiredsupervisor with J.P. Stevens Co. and owner of Alvin Bankhead ConstructionCo. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended BerryCollege in Rome, Ga. He was a member of Great Falls Masonic Lodge No.277, Hejaz Shrine Temple and the Rossville Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Simpson Bankhead; three daughters, Lynn B.Jackson of Manning, Susan B. Andrews of Lamar and Pixley B. Roberts on ofLexington; two brothers, William Bankhead and Karl Bankhead, both ofBlackstock; his sister, Elizabeth Cornwell; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Palmetto Baptist Cancer Institute, Taylorat Marion Street, Columbia, SC 29220 or Shriners Hospital, 950 W. FarisRoad, Greenville, SC 29605. Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge.
