I am the great granddaughter of ALR. Regarding the information below I would like any advice you may be able to give me in documenting the dates of the events below: ALR served in the Seminole Indian Wars in 1856-1857? He was mustered into Captain Moseley's Independent Co., Fla Mounted Volunteers at Ft. Brooke. He was mustered out June 29, 1857. A month later again at Ft. Brooke he enrolled in the Wince Stephens Co. commanded by Sam St. George Rogers, Fla Mounted Volunteers. Ft. Myers was another station during the six months term. Included in his record is: Horse killed by Indians. Some detail re his appearance: He had red hair, had a fair complexion, and blue eyes. His wife's name was Susan Ann Wells (my great grandmother)I have been told he fought with his brothers, Francis White Ross and John H. Ross. John supposedly died during the war.
