Mr Sanford, my apologies for not responding to your generous info sooner but I have not been feeling very good for several days now and so its hard for me to concentrate on anything for to long. I will begin by giving you what I have on Jane Mclean and her family. I cannot take any credit for it because my deceased sister Betty researched for years the hard way. Pen,paper, and stamps!Ihave been into my Mothers line for as many years. Doak. I have the added blessing of my computer tho and the opportunity to meet many nice people via e-mail like yourself. As I told you Jane was the third child of Alexander and Elizabeth Ratchford Mclean. He was born ca1700-1709 on the Isle of mull Co. of Argyle Scotland. His father is unknown but his mothers name was Frayne who died giving birth to him. Hisdate of arrival in the U.s. is not known on the group sheet. He married Elizabeth Ratchford 1739 in Philadelphia Pa.Another source places her birth ca1719 and her death 1812 which matches mine on the burial site for both of them which is Old Smith Graveyard Belmont N.C. Alexander's will was probated in 1797 which suggests he was deceased in that year also. His church affiliation was Presbyterian. Places of residence were Scotland, Antrim Co.Ire.Philadelphia, Rowen Co. N.C.and Lincoln Co. N.C. They had 8 children, the first three being girls of which I have very little info.Margaret, b. Phil-Agnes married William McGill 20 May 1792 b.Phil. Jane married John Glenn, b. Phil. The 4th child was John McLean b.Rowen Co. N.C. He was in the Rev. War and died at Bufords Bridge. #5 was Alexander Jr. McLean, of whom I am descended. He was my GGGGrandfather b.10 May 1755 Rowen Co. N.C.His first marriage was to Sarah Craig. His second to Ann Hais with whom he had 7 children. They married 1 April 1782 Rowen Co. died 28 Dec 1847-49 in Cape Girardeau Co. Mo.Buried at Apple Creek Cem. Appleton Mo. Cape Co. next to his slave which was unheard of at that time.He wasa very colorful figure. There is a great artical published in the newspaper by his decendants in Mo. If you are interested in any further info on him I will be glad to send it. #6 son was William b. 2 April 1757 Lincoln Co.(now Gaston) Married Mary Davidson 19 June 1792. Died 25 Oct.1828 and buried at Bethel Presbyterian Church York Co. S.C. He served under Gen. Green in the Rev.War and and was 96 years old when he died. #7 George b. 14 Oct.1760 Lincoln Co. N.C. Married Rebecca Alexander 25 July 1789. Died 30 Oct 1834.Served in Rev. War #8 Thomas b. Lincoln Co. Married Margaret"Peggy" Lewis 10 Oct. 1796 in Lincoln Co. N.C. Now I have a note that says that the son of Thomas was William R. born 1811 died 1884 Married Martha Glenn Craig. Remember that Alexander's first marriage was to Sarah Craig. Is there a possible connection there?I have a little info on Sarah. Tell me what you think and if I can be of any further help. Jane and John Glenns children would be of great interest to me Mr. Sanford. I can also supply you with the people and documention of what I have told you if you like. Marlene
