JOHNSON, JOHN C (1910 U.S. Census) OKLAHOMA , MCCURTAIN, 2-TWPAge: 67, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: TNSeries: T624 Roll: 1261 Page: 31

Age 73 at the time of death.
Per Dutch Dodd: JOHN C. JOHNSON &SUSAN E. BRADSHAW
John C. Johnson was born on July 13, 1842, in Knox Co. TN.His parents
were John Riley Johnson and Sarah Kittrell. John Johnson and his younger
brother James P. Johnson, whom Audie Luttrell Dodd, John Johnson's
granddaughter, recalled being known as "Jasper", came from Tennessee to
Webster Co., MO, while young men, probably in the early 1860's. It is
likely that their parents remained in TN as Audie Dodd also recalled
being told of her grandfather's return visit to TN and the excitement
that it caused to his mother.
Susan E. Bradshaw was born on April 8, 1838, in Gasconade County MO, the
daughter of Samuel Bradshaw and Jemima Gately Bradshaw. As a child,
SusanBradshaw moved with her family from Gasconade Co. to Greene Co.,
from whichWebster Co. was formed in 1855, sometime between 1840 and 1850.
John Johnson and Susan Bradshaw were married near Marshfield in Webster
Co. in the early 1860's. James Johnson marreied Susan's sister, Delila
Margana Bradshaw. The oldest three of John and Susan's children, Sarah,
William, and Alice, were born in Webster Co.
After the 1870 census, the family moved to the community ofSilver Hill,
Polk Co. AR, near the town of Gillham and where the youngest four, John,
Lela, Joe, and Birdie, of the seven children would be born.
After Susan's death, in Gillham AR, on May 6, 1891, at the age of 53,
John married Mary Luttrell McKeever, the daughter of Robert G. Luttrell,
and Caroline McCloud Luttrell. They had one daughter, Mary (I have
"Mamie") C. Johnson, born Nov. 1892.
The family was living in Sevier Co., AR, which is adjacent to Polk Co.
AR, at the time of the 1900 census, and in McCurtain Co., OK, at the 1910
census.
Polk Co. land records show John C. Johnson acquiring land in 1898 and his
occupation was given as "farmer" on the 1870, 1880, and 1910 census.
However, it is listed as "manufacturing" on the 1900 census. His two
stepsons, George and Albert McKeever, ages 10 and 11, are shown as
"labor, iron mill", probably working for their stepfather.
John C. Johnson died July 17, 1915,in Broken Bow, McCurtain Co. OK at
the age of 73. Both John C. Johnson and Susan Bradshaw Johnson are
buried at the Mineral Springs Cemetery near Gillham.
