    Herman Val McAdams , 88 of Starkville, died on March 12, 2010 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mr. McAdams was born August 12, 1921 to William Val and Freddie MacKenzie McAdams in Artesia, MS. He graduated from high school in West Point, MS. He then attended Mississippi State University where he was a member of ROTC and Sigma Pi Fraternity. World War II interrupted his education when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served in the 15th Air Corp with the 449th bomb group flying 35 missions with 270 combat hours over Italy from 1944 to 1945, serving as a bombardier on a B-24. After his war service, he returned to Mississippi State University and completed his education on the GI Bill, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was married to Ruby Anne Cheairs in 1943 and had four children; Val (Lexa) McAdams , Jr. and David (Jan) McAdams , all of Huntsville, AL, Mallory (Ken) Howell of Lebanon, TN and Lee (Patsy) McAdams of Olive Branch, MS. He was married to Lynn Adams in October, 2006 and continued to live in Starkville where they were active in church and Mississippi State University activities and traveled to Alaska in 2009.
    Herman was retired from DuPont Chemical Company. He was an Eagle Scout and longtime Scout Master of Troop 114 FUMC in Columbia, TN and father to three Eagle Scouts and grandfather of two Eagle Scouts. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a long time member of the Mississippi State University Bulldog Club. He was an avid supporter of Mississippi State University athletics, especially baseball.
    He is survived by his wife, Lynn McAdams of Starkville and her children, Gayle (Bob) Adams Barnes of Atlanta, GA and Mark (Libby) Adams of New Orleans, La.; his children; brothers and sisters, Mildred Walsh and Mary Frances Shepard, both of Dallas, TX, Veda Sensenbach of El Paso, TX, Kenneth McAdams and Kay Ruhl both of Ruidoso, NM; and his grandchildren, Nathan (Elena) McAdams of Los Alamos, NM, Ann MacKenzie (Ashby) Green of Marietta, GA, Patrick (Ella) McAdams of Manchester, England, Kelly (Jason) Willis of Nashville, TN, Adam Howell of Kiev, Ukraine, John Howell of Chicago, IL, Paul Howell of Hermitage, TN, Mary-Anne McAdams and Will McAdams of Olive Branch, MS, Mark Lanford of Atlanta, GA, Jana Jackson of Huntsville, AL, Jamie Slie of Denver, CO; and seven great grandchildren.
    Visitation for Mr. McAdams was from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, March 14 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville. Services were at 10 a.m., Monday, March 15. 2010 in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Whiteside and Rev. David Shumaker officiating. Interment was in New Albany Cemetery.
    He loved all things MSU and enjoyed woodworking and fixing anything! Daddy, granddaddy, Grand Pa Pa, Pa Pa, had a keen sense of humor and loved all things family which was his greatest joy.
    Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 45 or Mississippi State University Baseball Dugout Club.
