DEATH OF MRS. BERRY WHITTEN
The death of Mrs. Berry Whitten occurred at the home of her eldest daughter, Mrs. Jerline Allen, in Social Circle, on Friday, Oct. 5. She was born Jan. 28, 1844 , at Lumpkin, Ga. Before her marriage she was Miss Lou Troutman, In 1859 she was married to Mr. Berry M. Whitten. To this union were born eleven children, all living except John who died two years ago. The children are : Will , at Godfrey , Frank, at Fitzgerald, Bob at Rochelle , Mrs. Jerline Allen, at Social Circle, Mrs Mattie Adams, Social Circle , Charlie , Atlanta , Mrs. Vinie Saye, Rutdledge, Lem , Detroit, Jim, Atlanta.
In early Life she united with the Baptist Church , of which she remained a consitant member the rest of her life.
The funeral occurred at Brownwood Church , on Sunday afternoon. The services being conducted by Revs. Rodgers and Ivey.
Mrs. Whitten was a good, sweet, patient mother. No one knew her but to love her for her many sweet traits. All her children, grand children will miss her so much. Truly , " A Mother in Israel, " has gone to her reward.
