James Luther McAliley was married to Ida Lelia Twilla ("Lee") on December 17, 1902, in Perry Co., Tennessee. They both were employed as school teachers, according to the 1930 census.

The couple had no children borne to them, however, they raised Alma Ruth McAliley (b. 1917) as their daughter.

They made their home in Jackson, Madison Co., Tennessee. "Lee" McAliley died in 1944, leaving J. Luther a widower.

He met a nurse, Cora, during a hospitalization, I am told, and eventually they married.

They lived in Jackson until his death February 25, 1957.

Cora died just a few months after he did, on June 12, 1957.
