Zijn moeder Opoe Osinga woonde bij hun in, in de Borselaarstraat, als kinderen maakte we lol met haar kopere hoorapparaat, zo,n toeter. Opoe kwam uit Woerden, oorspronkelijk kwamen zij uit Friesland.
De vader en moeder van Paul waren schippers, toe Paul z'n vader is overleden is hij aan de wal gegaan, heeft in de bouw bij Opa Jan Koedood gewerkt. Hij kende Mien al, waarschijnlijk ontmoet tijdens laden en lossen / werkzaamheden met hun boot in de Achterhaven.
Paul had twee broers, Auke en Leen.
Leen is blijven varen, later naar Amsterdam gegaan.
Auke is overleden tijdens een ongeluk in 1931 op hun schip, de mast is op hem gevallen.
Tante Rieka was de weduwe van Auke, haar dochter Riek (Rietje) is getrouwd met Cor Pausma,die we later op verjaardagen tegenkwamen.
Cor Pausma en Rietje met nog een stel waren bevriend met Jozien en Cor.
Later woonde Aad de zoon van Cor naast Ans en Wim Berghout op de Klepperdans in Capelle a/d IJssel.
Oom Pauls moeder is een tweede keer getrouwd met een kaasboer in Woerden, dit was het adres waar Jan Koedood, onze Opa, in de oorlog langs is gegaan op weg naar Tante Jo en Oom Rien in Achterveld.
Oom Paul is op 19-05-1958 overleden tijdens het zijl leggen in de woonkamer
Hij had net nog aardappelen geschild voor Mien en samen een kopje thee gedronken. Hij is 63 jaar geworden.
Op de zelfde dag in de ochtend was Opa Westplate uit de Walchersestraat ook overleden aan een herseninfarct.
s'Middags kwam Jan Koedood (zoon van Oom Jil) het vertellen.
