Notes about Maria Frederika van Laar

In 1944 stierf Maria Frederika Waijenberg van Laar plotseling aan een hartinfarct.
Dochter Corrie van 20jaar nam het huishouden op zich.
Bij de begrafenis was middelste zoon Johannes, Jo, niet aanwezig, hij verbleef in een "arbeitslager" (dwangarbeid) in Drente. Toen het bericht hem daar bereikte kreeg hij welliswaar verlof om zijn moeder te begraven maar er was van vervoer naar apeldoor geen sprake. Drie dagen en nachten was hij onderweg, lopend, en kwam dus na de begrafenis van zijn moeder thuis.
Jo moest zich na de begrafenis weer melden om terug gebracht te worden naar het "arbeitslager" in Drente....Jo zo kwaad over het feit dat hij zijn moeder niet meer had kunnen zien en nauwelijks de mogelijkheid om te rouwen weigerde nog om terug te gaan...hij zou wel onderduiken zei hij.
Een paar dagen later was er een razzia en waren ze natuurlijk ook op zoek naar Jo..en ja waar was die nu???
Aan het kanaal waar gezin toen woonde waren maar 2 overgangen over dat kanaal, die verbinding hadden met de stad en dat lag redelijk ver van hun huis en veel open ruimte door Weilanden, dus bij razzia's waren ze al ver van te voren gealarmeert.
In de keuken lagen 3 losse vloerplanken onder het zeil....die planken lagen zelfs in mijn jeugd dus in de jaren 50 nog los en de reden daarvan was dat onder de vloer de waterleiding lag en bij strenge vorst knapte die nog wel eens in en onverwarmde keuken en ook nog onder de vloer.
In elk geval had Corrie de tegenwoordigheid van geest om haar broer Jo en diens vriend te verstoppen onder de vloer....zeil erover...en kleine broer Teun in de kinderstoel erboven op. Toen de gestapo kwam en navraag deed naar Jo wist Corrie van niets en verder was er ook niemand thuis....Ze vroegen nog wel naar haar vader want die kon dan ook wel werken inplaats van Jo...maar toen Corrie meldde dat vader de 50 al gepasseert was hadden ze geen interesse meer en vertrokken.
De overleveringsverhalen vermelden verder nog, dat Jo waarschijnlijk dat laatste oorlogsjaar actief was in het verzet?
