Waar Willem woont in Steenwijk is tot nu toe niets van te vinden in Steenwijk. In 1825 woont hij in Amsterdam en werkt daar als castelijn BS). Rond 1840 komt hij weer terug in Steenwijk en is dan 'vader van het armenhuis', waar hij dus ook woonde met zijn vrouw.

Tussen 1796 en 1808 houdt hij er ook een paard op na.

Strafzaak tegen Willem
Op 26 februari 1799 wordt Willem aangeklaagd ivm wanbetaling aan de
gebroeders van Lennep in Amsterdam. Geregeld neemt Willem van hen 'zoete en
kruydeniers waren' mee naar Steenwijk. Zo haalt hij op 16 juni 1795 een
baal koffie op en op 24 mei 1796 de nodige 'peeper' en 'saffraan'.
Uiteindelijk heeft hij van een rekening van f 516,17 nog f129,7 open staan
De gebroeders van Lennep zijn het 'wachten moede'. Willem betaald alsnog
het achterstallige geld op de rechtbank (GA 580).
