Notes about Beth Eugena CANNON

Beth Eugena Cannon Brand, 95, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the ninth of ten children, born on April 2, 1920, to Quayle and Eugena Silver Cannon in Bountiful, Utah.

She married Hugh Cornelius Brand on April 10, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple in a ceremony performed by President David 0. McKay. They were blessed with two children—Steven Hugh and Barbara Anne.

Beth devoted her life to serving people and was constantly concerned for the welfare of others. She had a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and always tried to emulate His example. Even into her 90s, she remained anxiously engaged in a good cause. Whether it was making rice pudding for an ailing neighbor, buying clothes for her great-grandchildren, or giving 2-dollar bills to friends at an assisted living center, she kept looking for ways to brighten someone else’s day. She made friends easily and kept friends forever. She had an impeccable memory, a quick wit, and a great sense of fun. She was gracious and grateful, always expressing appreciation for those around her. She was a supreme hostess, warmly welcoming people to her home with excellent cooking and company. Beth was humble and self-deprecating, never realizing what a choice and special person she was. Above all, she was devoted to her family and ministered to them until her last breath.

Beth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Veronica Brand; son-in-law Kim Sanderson; sister Merle Andersen; sister-in-law Joyce Shurtz, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Hugh and daughter Barbie.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Holladay 26th Ward Chapel, 4601 South Chapel Drive, Holladay, UT (2565 E.) on Monday, April 27th at 11 am. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary (1950 E 10600 So, Sandy) and Monday morning from 9:30-10:45am at the church.
