Rond 22 september 1799 vindt in het gezin Van Putten een dramatische gebeurtenis plaats, dit tot gevolg heeft dat de drie oudste kinderen gelijktijdig overlijden en op de 22e begraven worden. Wat de aard van de gebeurtenis was, brand, ziekte of misschien koolmonoxide, is onduidelijk. Aan de Historische Kring Breukelen is gevraagd te onderzoeken wat hier gebeurd is.
