Blijkens een typografische kaart van 1777 en gegevens van het Kadaster bewoonde Derk een huis achter de “Millingsche Bandijk” (Sectie A nr. 102) gesitueerd tussen de (huidige) Van Lijndenstraat en de Steenstraat (Steense Gemeente). Blijkens gegevens uit 1833 woonde na het overlijden van Derk de weduwe Vermaas (een bekende Millingse schippersfamilie) in het huis. Direct naast de woning van Derk stond het huis (Sectie A nr. 100) dat voorheen werd bewoond door Derk van Ophuizen, een kleinkind van Herman Verhoeven en Baartjen van Stooken. De moeder van Derk van Ophuizen was hun dochter Aleijd
