Jan Trip, heer van Berkenrode, zoon van Jacobus Trip en Margaretha Munker, werd den 31sten October 1664 te Amsterdam geboren. Hij werd burgemeester, raad te Amsterdam (1707) en vervolgens bewindhebber der Oost-Ind.-Compagnie, directeur van de Surinaamsche societeit, medestichter van het Trippenhuis en Corvershof te Amsterdam. Ook was hij curator der Leidsche hoogeschool. Hij huwde 1o Margaretha Cecilia Neijs 1690, die stierf 1699; 2o Elisabeth Tielens. Hij overleed den 4den October 1732.
