Veur is een voormalige gemeente in de provincie Zuid-Holland. De middeleeuwse gemeente maakte deel uit van de bezittingen van de heren van Duivenvoorde en Wassenaer.
In 1645 werd Veur een aparte heerlijkheid. Tot dat moment maakte het dorp deel uit van de heerlijkheid Voorschoten. Het agrarische Veur hield op te bestaan in 1938 toen het samen met het dorp Stompwijk de gemeente Leidschendam ging vormen. De dorpen Veur en Stompwijk lagen tegenover elkaar aan weerszijden van de Vliet, ter hoogte van sluis Leidschendam. Grote bekendheid genoot Veur vanwege het in 1845 opgerichteInstituut Noorthey, een jongenskostschool, waar veel aan tucht, kennis en sport werd gedaan. Zij waren de eersten die in Nederland cricket speelden. De bekendste scholier van het internaat was kroonprins Willem van Oranje (1840-1879), zoon van koning Willem III en koningin Sophie
