Het gezin woonde in de Grotestraat in Goor. Johanna van Engel-Grünewald zat in Holten ondergedoken. Zij is door verraad gepakt. Isidor van Engel (roepnaam Ies) was evenals zijn vader slager. Hij was verloofd. Hij is bij de grote razzia in Twente van 10 september 1941 opgepakt en naar Mauthausen op transport gesteld.
