Gesina van Engel was een zus van Abraham van Engel. Ze werd geboren in Deventer en woonde in 1934-1935 bij het gezin van haar broer in de Colensostraat 8 te Hengelo. Daarvoor woonde ze in Den Haag; in 1935 verhuisde ze naar de Den Texstraat in Amsterdam. (Toevoeging van een bezoeker van de website Digitaal Monument)
